Pros and Cons of the this holiday

To those who truly know me, they know that I'm not a fan of the holidays. Call me a Grinch or sardonic, say I have no soul, whatever. I mean, it's not like I'll ruin your holiday- hell, I'll even wish you a happy one. But I don't like getting involved is what I'm trying to say.

For instance, I don't like the fact that people decorate their house like it's some massive light bulb they're using to signal the aliens. Mmm, pollution. I also don't like how everyone makes such a damn fuss about buying gifts and shit that it's hectic everywhere--- me no likey hectic. Gift giving is great and all, but it's not what Christmas is supposed to be about and the way everyone goes about it, it seems like that's what they think it is about. And who likes gift wrapping so damn much?! I also don't like how we have to cook a massive amount of food... not only does it make watching weight much harder but it also makes the house hectic--- me no likey hectic. Then you have the stupid jingles and holiday songs... seriously, those songs get so annoying after more than a day! So then I can't even jam to the radio because the only thing that'll be playing are stupid Chirstmas songs. Then when I think about it, it's unfair! And there's nothing I hate more than being unfair. How is it unfair? Well, we're in America where we have a large diversity of religion. The poor non-Christian/Catholics, nonreligious, and atheist people

So, now that I got all that stuff out of the way... it's time to list the pros and cons of this holiday! Because even if I do hate it, it's not like it'll ever leave me alone.

Pros (a.k.a. great gifts):
  • Underworld and Underworld Evolution DVDs (yay Kate Beckinsale!)
  • GLASS by Ellen Hopkins
  • $100 GUESS watch
  • Two of my older cousins comin' over, just arriving from the PI
  • $100 Aeropostale gift card
  • Nice clothes
  • Apple pie  and empanadas (which I made from scratch) :D
  • Watching Casino and Pulp Fiction with the bros
  • Korean and Japanese Entertainment specials

Cons (a.k.a. shit I hate on the holidays)
  • My mom talking
  • Me not watching The Curious Case of Benjamin Button and Valkyrie
  • My pops, baby girl (niece), and favorite bro getting a bad cold :(
  • Cooking and Cleaning
  • Taking a gazillion pictures just to open a few presents
  • Eating so damn much
  • Being tired all the time
  • Getting bitched at
  • I still have school shit to worry about and a long but not long enough break like this is what throws me off into deeper procrastination!!!

P.S. >>The World is Coming to an End<< Seriously, that ___?!
Underworld > Twilightx1000.
Any day
.
'Tis fact.

Interesting post. My Korean Grandmaster taught me it's like that; everything in life-one thing good-one thing bad.

Forgot to mention...'Then It's Done'; one my my favorite han-gul songs. I can't remember at the moment what tv drama this song was in, but that was the first time I heard the song. Happy to see it first on your playlist.

That's a good quote. I've always wanted to take a martial art (TKD was one of them). What division are you in?
I LOVE this song (glad people like it too xD and know it), and I love Kim Sunghee. I'm a big KARA fan (especially 2007 KARA). Do you like Korean music? I've always wanted to watch the drama though...

@sLaVeGiRl01 - I don't compete in TKD competitions, but I am a 5th Dan degree certified Master Instructor through Chung Do Kwan and the World TKD Federation in Seoul, Korea. My responsibilty, since the death of my teacher Grandmaster Hwa Song Choe 16 years ago, is as chief instructor of his school in Irving, Texas. I'm unfer the guidance of his nephew Grandmaster Kwan Kyun Kim, which means I'm at the school over 60 hours a week, and no vacations.

I love Korean music, and films, and tv dramas. Just finished watching 'Hello Miss' with Lee Da Hae and ee Ji Joon. Wonderful story and soundtrack.

- Ohhhh I see, I hear each degree you go up, the longer it takes. I know it took my ex a while before reaching 4th degree black belt in late 2008 (in two different divisions or something like that).

Oh man, I like Lee Da Hae, she's so cute!~ I really liked MY GIRL with Lee Dong Wook and LDH, so I was planning on watching Hello! Miss as well but never came around to it. I watch more movies and listen to tons of music though. I started to like it more after Japanese entertainment sorta started to bore me.

I Almost had to fight my friend who thought that UNDERWORLD copied TWILIGHT and that TWILIGHT was way better (for stupid reasons of course). I'm not usually a crazy biased fan like how I probably sound now... But complete vampires who can walk out in the day light and has skin that look like diamonds don't beat Underworld.

Wow, I don't think that I've met anyone who doesn't like the holidays... From my point of view, inspite of the huge debt concured after the holiday, the long hours of cooking, the arguments of what should be or shouldn't be cooked, and so forth. I still think that the holiday is worth it.... it brings family together and sometimes closer...

- Meh, I guess. It brings us together for those few hours or days... and then what, right after it's broken. The bitter part of me would rather just keep it that way than giving little specks of hope each time we come back together for something "good" at the end of all the hectic stuff. But the other part does understand it's a nice change once in a while. But looking at it in a neutral way, I still say the holidays are usually my least favorite days :T That's just the way I've come to look at it.

I'm the same way as you - I think. I live like worlds away from my family, when I'm away, I miss them and I'm always worried that something bad might happen to them (I know, I'm a pessimist), but when I come back for the holidays and such... We argue like there's no tomorrow... But the same thing happens when I come back for another holiday... lol... I guess it's true, family can never get along with one another... lol.. But after a while, I just learned to appreciate the times when I'm with them... We may have conflicting idea's at times, but I just take it cold turkey and shut up... I mean, I can argue with others all year round, so when I'm with my family in those limited times, I learn to at least try to be happy with them....

- Hmm, well since I haven't moved out yet, I guess I'm not exactly used to being away from my immediate family for too long. A day or two maybe, but that's not enough for me to miss them when I know I'm going back lol. But I do miss one of my older brothers or my little sister if I'm away from them for too long. Either way, when all of us are home at the same time- it's havoc and I rather not have it. And that's usually during the holidays. ick lol

@sLaVeGiRl01 - Well you know what they say, siblings will always be siblings. Well, since you're still at home, it's pretty normal to easily be irritated by family. It was easy growing up, but when yuo've grown up, the simplest thing that they do to irritate you becomes huge... but trust me, when you move out, you'll miss everything about them... Even when they're annoying..

"Taking a gazillion pictures just to open a few presents" so true.

I do enjoy when they put lights in all the trees down town though.

Holidays are okay. I only like them because of the whole "gift" thing. Call me shallow, but really I don't know how to feel about religion and Christmas always put such an emphasis on that and the fact my distant family all expect me to be the prom queen and such... Ugh. That sucks about the cold thing though. Plus, Valkrie was okay. And I love these little dancey thingies above the comment box. :D vair nice. : PLEASE : awww..
